Navigating the insurance claims process can be complex. At Family Roofing, our Claims Specialists are trained to guide you through each step.

Claims Process

Step 1: Inspect the Roof for Damages

We offer a free roof inspection to assess storm-related damage. Our team will visit your home, evaluate whether the damage warrants insurance coverage, and provide you with photos to show the necessary repairs.

Step 2: Set Up an Insurance Claim

If significant storm damage is identified, our Insurance Claims Specialist will assist you in contacting your insurance company to file a claim.

Step 3: Insurance Adjuster Inspection

After filing the claim, an Insurance Adjuster will schedule a visit to inspect the damage and determine if the insurance will cover the repairs. It’s crucial to notify Family Roofing of the Adjuster’s inspection schedule. We will be present during the inspection to highlight the damage and optimize your claim settlement.

Step 4: Receive the Loss Report & First Check

If the claim is approved, you will receive a Loss Report detailing the scope of damage and the funds allocated for repairs. The first check will be included, reflecting the settlement amount minus depreciation and deductible. Typically, the mortgage company will be listed as a payee, so you’ll need their endorsement before cashing the check.

Step 5: Sign the Family Roofing Agreement

Contact us upon receiving the Loss Report. We will ensure you are fully compensated by comparing the insurance figures with our estimate. You will only be responsible for your deductible and any desired upgrades. Once everything is confirmed, you will sign the agreement and choose your roof color.

Step 6: New Roof Installation

Our crew will remove the old roof and inspect the decking. Any damaged wood will be replaced before installing the new roofing material, usually completed within one day. Review the “What to Expect” form in your Family Roofing folder to prepare for the project. We do not require upfront payment; instead, we will collect the first check amount on the day of installation.

Step 7: City Inspection

After installation, we will arrange for a city inspection to ensure the roof is properly installed. A city inspector may need access to your property, and a ladder might be left outside.

Step 8: Receive the Second Check

Once the roof is installed, we will send an invoice to your insurance company. They will then issue the depreciation amount, typically 10-40% of the replacement cost. Contact Family Roofing when you receive the second check so we can collect the final balance and your deductible. We will provide you with an Installation Certificate and warranty information once payment is complete.
